From rugged old-timers to modern efficiency, the Platinum Expansion for Farming Simulator 22 introduces Volvo machines from several decades. GIANTS Software, developer and publisher of the multi-million selling Farming Simulator series, released a new video trailer featuring the diverse addition of Volvo machines for farming, forestry and transport.
Platinum Expansion Adds Volvo Vehicles
The unique video trailer spans more than half a century and covers some notable milestones in Volvo’s vehicle production. The nicknamed “Gravel Charlie” BM-Volvo DR 631 from the Sixties, the first articulated dump-truck ever created, and the tractor Volvo-BM 2654 from 1979 add a nostalgic touch to the game.
The journey through time in the video continues with Volvo truck FH16 and its balanced power, up until now to the modern Volvo VNX 300 and the Volvo wheel loader L200H High Lift, which are among the most powerful and efficient machines today. Included in the Platinum Expansion, all these machines are now part of the Farming Simulator universe.
Farming Simulator 22 is available for PC, Mac, PlayStation®5 (PS5™), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One. A Year 1 Season Pass is available, including the Platinum Expansion and extending the game with even more content. GIANTS Software will also continue to release free content updates and user-generated content on the official ModHub. The esports harvest is in: Trelleborg is the winning team in Farming Simulator League (FSL) Season 4 after a furious weekend full of adrenaline-pumping baling! GIANTS Software, developer and publisher of the globally acclaimed Farming Simulator brand, organized the FSL World Championship with the top eight teams attending at its Erlangen (Germany) office and congratulates the Trelleborg team as former and new World Champion in FSL Season 4.
15 Matches to Glory
Trelleborg ruled its group phase on Saturday already, qualifying directly as winner in group A for the semi-finals. Team astragon (who won the final participant match vs Corteva Agriscience), mYinsanity and Bednar had their chances in the lower bracket in this group, where Czech agricultural team Bednar put through for another spot in the Sunday semi-finals.
The French players of team New Holland dominated Group B and progressed to semi-finals leaving Valtra, Lindner and DJK Ehenfeld behind. Valtra followed via the second chance lower bracket and in the end rewarded itself for the 3rd place in the World Championship – moving up significantly from 7th rank at the end of the qualifying phase.
Trelleborg Team on Fire
Claiming five tournament victories in the fourth FSL season, as well as reigning team champions in the second and third season, Trelleborg was the clear favorite in the World Championship 2022. Team captain Lukas Thiemann aka Wühler and his four team-mates started with big confidence, two substitutes and the ability to adjust strategies depending on opponents and circumstances.
Trelleborg’s winning streak wasn’t flawless, as New Holland and Valtra could at least claim victory in one round each of their Best of 5 and Best of 3 matches respectively. But those couldn’t stop Trelleborg’s overall victory and after 16 tournament hours on two days they proudly represent the World Championship winners of Season 4! As a total reward within this FSL Season 4, Trelleborg accumulated a share of 42,000 from the total prize pool of 100,000 Euros.
Farming Meets Esports
“It’s been a blast – the only on-site event in this season was as worthy setting for this World Championship”, summarizes Claas Eilermann, Event & Esports Manager at GIANTS Software. “Congratulations to team Trelleborg for a well-deserved win! Thanks again to all attendees, sponsors and partners for this exciting conclusion of Season 4. Our preparations for the future of farming esports start now!” GIANTS Software will reveal the next steps in its agricultural esports universe in 2023.
The free to download Tournament Client invites every Farming Simulator fan and esports enthusiast to register and compete in the league. The esports game mode is currently based on the PC version of Farming Simulator 19 and requires teamwork to expertly harvest wheat, produce bales and quickly deliver them to a barn. Agriculture meets esports: GIANTS Software organizes the World Championship to conclude Season 4 in its Farming Simulator League (FSL) competition, inviting all competitors to face each other in their studio in Erlangen, Germany.
The decisive tournament will be streamed on official GIANTS Software Twitch channel, the FSL YouTube channel, and Facebook on November 19th and 20th starting at 10 am CET each day. Live commentary in English and German language brings the exciting atmosphere to viewers at home, when participants have their first face-to-face competition in this season to secure their share from the overall prize pool of 100,000 Euros.
Unexpected Turn: A New Challenger Enters
The participating teams in the FSL consist of a great mixture between agricultural manufacturers, esports organizations and Farming Simulator enthusiasts. At this opportunity, GIANTS Software welcomes New Holland as another sponsor for a team: they support the players formerly known as the French participant Fermiers Flamboyants who made a spectacular entrance into the league by breaking the winning streak of team Trelleborg in the fifth online tournament.
New Holland joins the likes of mYinsanity, DJK Ehenfeld, Lindner, Bednar and Valtra who are also qualified for the World Finals. Unified in the common goal to beat the leading team Trelleborg as the reigning champions and favorite for Season 4 again.
Battle to Decide the Last Contender
Teams of three players each collected circuit points over the course of the season in order to qualify for the World Championship. The leading team, Trelleborg, earned the advantage to start the knockout competition against the 8th place team from the ranking.
This last spot for the finals is still vacant, as astragon and Corteva Agriscience achieved identical results during the season, sharing 8th place in the rankings. They will fight each other on Friday evening at 6 pm CET to decide the final missing contender in the FSL World Championship.
Last Chances Before the Showdown
Starting on Saturday, the final tournament before the showdown features two groups each with an upper and lower bracket for the eight participating teams. The group winners are set for the semi-finals on Sunday, while the runners-up qualify via a second chance. This tournament structure allows one loss and competitors still have a last chance to proceed in the World Championship. On Sunday, the winner in the final match is crowned FSL World Champion!

GIANTS Software upgrades the family-friendly agricultural simulation by releasing the Platinum Expansion and Platinum Edition of Farming Simulator 22. Furthermore, the publisher and developer counts overall four million copies sold globally since the base game was released almost exactly one year ago. The launch trailer introduces virtual farmers to Silverrun Forest.
20,000 Trees and a Rollercoaster
With the Platinum Expansion, the forestry part of agriculture is heavily refined and extended – with 40+ new vehicles, tools & items from Volvo Group, IMPEX, John Deere, Koller, Komatsu, Pfanzelt, Schwarzmüller, WESTTECH and other renowned brands. The Platinum Edition combines the base game and expansion, driving the machine count to more than 500 authentically digitized vehicles and tools from over 150 real manufacturers.
Silverrun Forest, the most serene map by GIANTS Software so far, welcomes virtual business people with more than 20,000 trees, including sturdy sequoia trees and other new species. The atmospheric blend between agriculture, forestry, and recreational projects sees players shaping the character of the landscape by starting constructions – most impressive: a giant rollercoaster that is built by delivering resources.
Complex Machinery, Fun Logistics
Farmers harvest trees with state-of-the-art machines like the Volvo EC380DL and a variety of harvester heads. They drag logs through the dense forests with winches like the Pfanzelt Pm Trac, and overcome impassable terrain with yarders like the Koller K 300-T which spans hundreds of meters of rope wires through the woods. With shipping containers, they deliver the logs to various new production plants or construction projects to build boats, dog houses, or furniture. Many new selling points and production sites are resident in Silverrun Forest.
New Milestone Reached
“One year since the initial release of Farming Simulator 22. One year full of additional content - lots of it completely free of charge – leading up to one of the gameplay-wise most ambitious expansions we ever did”, comments GIANTS Software’s Head of Publishing Boris Stefan.
After Farming Simulator 22 sold 1.5 million copies in the first week after launch and 3 million after nine weeks, GIANTS Software now reaches another sales milestone. “That assures the new, successful, and self-published era of the Farming Simulator brand. An era that sold no less than four million copies of Farming Simulator 22 since launch so far”, says Stefan.
Farming Simulator 22 - Platinum Edition is available for PC, Mac, PlayStation®5 (PS5™), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One – including the base game and the Platinum Expansion. A Year 1 Season Pass is available, containing the Platinum Expansion as well and extending the game with even more content. GIANTS Software will also continue to release free content updates and user-generated content on the official ModHub.
